Tasmania has quarantine restrictions on the introduction of many plants and flowers, including sunflowers (Helianthus annuus), as managed by the Biosecurity Tasmania Section of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment.
Copsley Ornamentals is on the Approved Suppliers List Registration Number TASL061 for small weights of seed for sowing, specifically to send up to 1.0kg seed per sunflower line of its FleuroSun sunflowers to customers/consignees in Tasmania. However, consignees have to complete a Notice of Intention to Import Seeds For Sowing with each consignment. This may be difficult for smaller home gardeners and flower growers, but it is a requirement.
Copsley Ornamentals can assist potential consignees in this process and welcomes queries by email to fleurosun@gmail.com. For growers unaware of the requirement and who don't wish to go through this process, Copsley Ornamentals will refund the purchase price made through the website www.fleurosun.com.au.
